HAWARDEN GOLF CLUB, DEESIDE
Founded in 1911, Hawarden is a very well established golf club with a wealth of historical intrigue. In 2011, the club celebrated its centenary year. Grazing sheep were at one time an added hazard for golfers. Attempts to remove the sheep started as early as 1965, although they were rounded up for the major competitions. However, in 1989 at a cost of £10 000, the club was able to purchase the grazing rights and the sheep finally disappeared. Thanks to dedicated work by officials, green staff, and volunteer members, in 1994 the course was extended to a full 18 holes. Since then, greens have been relayed, trees planted, drainage improved, bunkers reshaped, in an ongoing programme of refinement.

HOLYWELL GOLF CLUB
Offers a unique golfing challenge in a delightful part of north Wales within easy reach of Chester, Merseyside and the north west. Situated on Brynford common, a mile up the hill from the town of Holywell – fondly known as the ‘Lourdes of Wales’ – this inland links-type course is a fair and sporting test for golfers of all abilities. It’s one of the highest courses in Wales and, at 800 feet above sea level, its invigorating air (and unpredictable breezes) enhance the quality of the experience. Add to that the glorious views of the Clwydian Range and Snowdonia. Established over a hundred years ago, the softness of the turf and the limestone subsoil combine to provide an arena which is never fatiguing. There are no tiring uphill holes and, whilst the course is compact, it succeeds in providing 18 holes of real golfing challenge.

OLD PADESWOOD GOLF CLUB, MOLD

Became a members club in April 2016, and is now ‘run by the members, for the members’. The course, over 6,600 yards off the championship tees, benefits from being in a tranquil area with an abundance of wildlife – many varieties of birds of prey can be seen flying over the rolling and open parkland course. Situated on the Cheshire and north Wales border in the county of Flintshire, there are magnificent views of the Clwydian mountain range, including Moel Famau with its jubilee tower perched at the summit.
