Offbeat Wales

HERE on Offbeat Wales we go slightly off the beaten track to bring visitors to Ewegottalove Wales an insight into some of the less well-publicised aspects of Welsh life.
We bring pop culture features on comic cons, the fast-changing world of card collecting and we even brush up on our street art. For those keen on Welsh history, we take a nostalgic peek into black and white archives showing footage of Wales from the 1930s through to the 1960s, as well as Christmases past.
We love visitors to our website to interact with us here at Ewegottalove Wales and invite photographers, both amateur and professional, to send us pictures that best describe their love of Wales and Welshness. We will be happy to publish our favourties in our Visions of Wales gallery.
In Did Ewe Know? we aim to provide quirky facts about Wales, some of which may surprise our many first-time visitors, and our section on Bloggers & Vloggers allows us to explore a selection of the digital voices currently shaping Welsh storytelling.
COMIC CONS
COMIC CONS in Wales provide rare local spaces for enthusiastic pop-culture fans, cosplayers and gamers to build community. Fans get direct access to actors, comic artists, and media personalities from sci-fi, fantasy and gaming, while traders are on site to sell everything from toys, cards and comics and to memorabilia and art.

TRADING CARDS
IN another pop culture focus, we look at how the innocent children’s hobby of collecting and swapping football cards has transformed into big business and why Welsh footballing wizards like Billy Meredith and Ryan Giggs, one hundred years apart in their playing careers, are still in demand – on cardboard!

STREET ART WALES
WALES has a vibrant and growing street art scene, with major hubs in cities like Cardiff and industrial towns like Port Talbot, featuring powerful murals that reflect Welsh culture, diversity, and history. We present a gallery of images from across Wales showing many iconic works, some of which have been lost over the years.

VINTAGE WALES
EXPERIENCE coracle fishing and coal mining from the 1930s, flickering and faded footage of Wales during the post-War years plus grainy insights into the following decades as we delve into the archives of British Pathé, British Movie Tone News, the BFI National Archive, the BBC and others for rare glimpses of a bygone Wales.

CHRISTMAS IN WALES
STROLL through Welsh winter gardens, frosty parklands, beautiful coastlines and special places on the 12 Walks of Christmas, from National Trust Cymru, and join us as we delve into Welsh Christmases past to bring some traditional ewe-ltide cheer!
