Tŷ Pawb

TŶ Pawb – Welsh for ‘Everybody’s House’ – is Wrexham’s vibrant hybrid of arts centre and market hall, a place where exhibition galleries sit happily alongside independent traders, cafés and everyday city life.

Created from the former People’s Market and opened in April 2018, it turned a much-loved civic building into a contemporary cultural hub without losing the bustle of a traditional market.

Under one roof you’ll find two professional galleries programmed year-round, a flexible performance space, a food court and the rooftop garden, plus the ‘Useful Art Space’, where creativity is put to work on community projects.

The result feels welcoming and lived-in: you might catch a family workshop, a comedy night or a film screening, then wander straight to a stall for local produce or a chat with a maker. It’s culture threaded through the everyday, not kept behind velvet ropes.

That people-first approach has earned national attention. Tŷ Pawb was shortlisted for Art Fund Museum of the Year 2022 – the UK’s biggest museum prize – and finished as a proud runner-up, recognition for an experiment that treats the market itself as a gallery of civic life. It has also served as a focal point for Wrexham’s rising cultural ambitions, helping power a new confidence in the city centre.

Drop in for a coffee, stay for an exhibition, and you’ll quickly see why locals use it like a living room for the city: friendly, inventive and always busy doing something. If you’re exploring north-east Wales, Tŷ Pawb makes a persuasive case that great art and great markets belong together – right at the heart of Wrexham.
