Halloween in Mid Wales 2026
THERE is something about Mid Wales that seems particularly well suited to Halloween.
Wide landscapes, historic buildings, old market towns, woodland, remote roads and darker skies can make late October feel very different from the height of summer.
Across Ceredigion, Powys and the surrounding area, Halloween brings together family attractions, pumpkin events, heritage experiences, railway adventures and smaller community celebrations.

Ewegottalove will be searching across the region throughout October to bring together some of the best things to see and do.
And we particularly want to hear about the smaller events which can easily slip beneath the radar.
Featured Halloween Events
Our selection of Halloween highlights from across Mid Wales.
Major attractions will sit alongside smaller events which we think deserve wider attention. New events will be added throughout October
PUMPKIN FESTIVAL – CANTREF ADVENTURE FARM, BRECON (selected dates from 3–31 October): Cantref’s Pumpkin Festival provides one of Mid Wales’ strongest family Halloween attractions. Activities include pumpkin picking and carving, carnival games, Wizard School, spooky swamp boat rides, Halloween shows, marshmallow toasting and seasonal photo opportunities.
CALAN GAEAF – POWIS CASTLE AND GARDEN (24 October–1 November): Powis Castle brings Welsh Halloween traditions into its spectacular autumn garden. Visitors can follow the pumpkins and search for the mysterious Hwch Ddu Gwta among the seasonal colours.
SPOOKY STORYTELLING – POWIS CASTLE (24, 25 and 28 October): Bilingual family storytelling sessions bring together mystery, mischief and autumn magic at Powis Castle. Fancy dress is encouraged and the sessions are designed to give younger visitors just the right amount of Halloween atmosphere without becoming too frightening.
CHILDREN’S ACTIVITY DAY – STRATA FLORIDA ABBEY (29 October): Historic Strata Florida Abbey in Ceredigion joins the October half-term programme with a special children’s activity day, giving the Halloween guide a useful Ceredigion entry alongside its Powys attractions.
SPOOKY TRAIL – TRETOWER COURT AND CASTLE (30–31 October): The Witch of Tretower has managed to lose her possessions around the historic house. Visitors brave enough to find them can complete the spooky trail and claim a sweet reward.

Pumpkin Picking & Autumn Days Out
Farms, seasonal attractions, autumn walks and pumpkin experiences can be every bit as important to Halloween as witches and ghosts.
We will be adding them here as we find them.

Community Halloween
From village halls and independent shops to pubs, theatres, schools and local clubs, Halloween happens on a much smaller scale too.
Those events are very much part of this guide.
