Halloween in North Wales 2026
HALLOWEEN in North Wales has all the right ingredients for something special.
Ancient castles, historic towns, forests, mountains, steam railways and dramatic coastlines provide an atmospheric backdrop as October draws to a close.
Across the region, Halloween brings family trails, pumpkin events, spooky attractions, ghostly stories, seasonal railway journeys, fright nights and community celebrations.
Ewegottalove will be adding events throughout October, from major visitor attractions to smaller local activities which deserve a little more attention.

Whether you’re looking for something suitable for younger children or an altogether scarier evening out, keep checking back as our North Wales Halloween guide grows.
Featured Halloween Events
This is where we will highlight some of the biggest, most unusual and most interesting Halloween events taking place across North Wales. More events will be added throughout October.
FFEAR FFOREST – ZIP WORLD BETWS-Y-COED (9 October–1 November): The forest takes a darker turn for Halloween as Zip World Betws-y-Coed brings back Ffear Fforest. Attractions include an after-dark coaster experience, drops into the darkness, a giant swing and Halloween activities among the trees. The experience is aimed primarily at ages nine and over.
CALAN GAEAF AT CHIRK CASTLE (17 October–1 November): Welsh folklore and some of Chirk Castle’s more curious stories provide the inspiration for this family trail through the autumn garden. Interactive activity stations encourage younger visitors to explore, play and discover stories connected with Calan Gaeaf and the changing seasons.
CALAN GAEAF AT ERDDIG (17 October–1 November): Erddig near Wrexham is celebrating Calan Gaeaf with family-friendly trails through its historic house and garden. Welsh folklore, strange creatures, seasonal crafts and marshmallow toasting all form part of the half-term programme.
CALAN GAEAF TRAIL – BODNANT GARDEN (24 October–8 November): Welsh monsters and mythical beasts take centre stage at Bodnant Garden. Families can enter the ‘Otherworld’, follow a monster hunt and encounter characters and stories including the Hwch Ddu Gwta, Y Ladi Wen and the Conwy Afanc.
SPOOKY HALLOWEEN TOURS – CONWY CASTLE (26–27 October): Conwy Castle offers child-friendly spooky tours exploring castle ghosts, medieval life and some decidedly gruesome old remedies. Tours last around 30 minutes and run several times during the day.
HALLOWEEN AT DENBIGH CASTLE (31 October): A spooky trail, creepy crafts, face painting and Halloween prizes await visitors to Denbigh Castle, with fancy dress positively encouraged.
SPOOKY HALLOWEEN – BEAUMARIS CASTLE (31 October): Beaumaris Castle combines its own spooky trail with gruesome figures, friendly resident witches, Halloween crafts and chocolate prizes.
TRICK OR TREAT TRAIL – CAERNARFON CASTLE (31 October–1 November): Halloween spirits have taken over Caernarfon Castle. Visitors are challenged to find four suitably scary inhabitants, solve the puzzle and perhaps earn themselves a treat.
